This exhibition is organized in a lot of effort as a promotional event to increase the public attention to the 19th IALA Conference 2018. The various distinctive exhibits shows how not-too-distant IALA Conference Heritage Exhibition will be transformed into a small global exhibition. The exhibition is largely divided into 3 sections. Section 1 focuses on the valuable lighthouse photographs over the world. Section 2 sheds light on the illuminants and optics. Lastly, section 3 introduces a variety of blueprints for lighthouse construction.
The photographic exhibition is presented by Kanghyun JOO, endowed chair-professor at Jeju National University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the korean lighthouse authority. This unique artistic expression of world maritime heritage and culture consists of 20 photographs, taken by him, which capture the architure of world and Korea's historical lighthouses.
In a seperate exhibion, illuminants shows the range of light sources used as aids to navigation throughout history, from candles to electric light. Optics introduces visitors to Augustin Fresnel, interprets his development of the Fresnel lens, and explains how it works. The display of a fifth-order and a sixth-order Fresnel lense give visitors the opportunity to view these beautiful objects up close.
This exhibition will remain on display on the second floor, National Assembly Member's Office Building though May 10, 2018.
